The message of the gospel is often misunderstood or misrepresented. Many hear it as a list of rules or a source of guilt, leaving them feeling burdened and defeated. Yet, the gospel is truly good news. It reveals a powerful truth: through Jesus Christ, believers are not only forgiven but also given authority and victory over life’s challenges. This post explores how understanding our identity as victorious ambassadors changes the way we live and interact with the world.
The Gospel Is Good News, Not Burden
Many preachers focus on sin and judgment without highlighting the victory Jesus won on the cross. This approach leaves congregations feeling worse than when they arrived. The truth is that Jesus took on all sin at Calvary, removing its power over us. Sin is the root cause of every problem in the world, but because Jesus bore it all, believers no longer live under sin’s authority.
This means that while troubles will come, Christians have the power to overcome quickly. The apostle Paul declares in 1 Corinthians 15:57 that we have victory through Jesus Christ. This victory is not just spiritual but practical, affecting every area of life.
Seated with Jesus in the Heavenlies
Ephesians 2:6 tells us that believers are seated with Jesus in the heavenlies. This is not just a spiritual position but a place of authority. Imagine yourself seated with Jesus, decreeing heaven’s will on earth. This perspective shifts how we face challenges and interact with the world.
God has put all things under the feet of His children. This means Christians are the ruling ones on this planet. When we speak God’s Word, the physical world responds because the laws of the spirit world govern the natural world. The Kingdom of Heaven operates through these spiritual laws, and believers have access to them.
Living as Rulers on Earth
Understanding that we are seated with Jesus means we carry authority. We are not victims of circumstances or controlled by the enemy. Instead, the devil is under our feet, not the other way around. This truth should fill believers with confidence and boldness.
God wants His children to walk tall and proclaim His will boldly. Matthew 18:18 teaches that what we bind or loose on earth is bound or loosed in heaven. This gives believers the power to influence their environment positively. We are called to act as God would, reflecting His character in our thoughts, words, and actions.
Reflecting God’s Character
Being an ambassador for Christ means we represent Him in every situation. We are to be like God in how we think, speak, and behave. This is not about perfection but about living intentionally to mirror God’s holiness and love.
1 Peter 1:16 and Leviticus 19:6 remind us to be holy as God is holy. This holiness is a lifestyle that impacts how we treat others and handle life’s challenges. When we live this way, we bring heaven’s influence into the world around us.
Practical Steps to Embrace Our Identity
Meditate on Scripture daily: Focus on verses that affirm your victory and authority in Christ.
Visualize your position with Jesus: Picture yourself seated with Him, ruling with confidence.
Speak God’s Word aloud: Declare promises and truths over your life and situations.
Act with boldness: Step into situations with the mindset of a victorious ambassador.
Surround yourself with encouragement: Fellowship with others who understand and live out this identity.
Joy in Our Identity
Knowing we are victorious ambassadors should fill us with joy and confidence. This identity removes low self-esteem and fear. Instead, it empowers us to live boldly, proclaiming God’s goodness and changing the earth for His pleasure.
