The Self Esteem of the Church

The low self esteem issue in the church only aids the devil. It does not honor God when you have your head down all the time. No one wants to know God if his representatives are just the saddest bunch of people a person could ever meet. When I say walk with confidence, I mean walk with confidence in who Jesus Christ says you are. God has called each of us to be the light of the world (Matthew 5:14) and the salt that gives it flavor thus making it interesting (Matthew 5:13). As ambassadors for Christ (2 Corinthians 5:20), we have to demonstrate what an abundant life truly looks like (John 10:10). The Word of God says that you are holy and without blame in the eyes of the Lord (Ephesians 1:4). Believe it. The Word of God says that you are the head and not the tail (Deuteronomy 28:13). Believe it. The Word of God says you are blessed in the city and in the country (Deuteronomy 28:3). Believe it. The Word of God says your going out and coming in is blessed (Deuteronomy 28:6). Believe it. The Word of God says your prosperity pleases God (Psalm 35:27). Believe it. The Word of God says that you are equipped to live in the divine nature of Jesus Himself 2 Peter 1:3-4). Believe it. The Word of God says you have the mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:16). Believe it. The Word of God says God supplies all of your needs according to His riches in Glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19). Believe it. The Word of God says greater is He who is in you than He that is in the world (1 John 4:4). Believe it. The Word of God says you can do all things because Christ is the one who gives you strength (Philippians 4:13). Believe it. The Word of God says that whatever you ask for in prayer (in accordance to His will) will be granted to you if you have faith (Matthew 21:22). Believe it. The Word of God says you have the power to bind and loose whatever is already bound and loosed in heaven (Matthew 18:18). Believe it. The believer is not under the thumb of the enemy. The one who chooses Jesus Christ as his Savior has automatically been given power and authority over the enemy’. Problems will pop up in life. The devil will make sure of that. However, it is ridiculous for a Christian to have the same reaction to these things as an unbeliever. Why would someone who has access to the power of God need to fear circumstances coming up against them? We must always remember that we are fighting a spiritual war, not a physical one. The weapons of our warfare are not carnal. This means that the tools and methods we use to fight our battles on earth are not physical. We must employ things like prayer, declarations, praise and worship, faith in the Word of God, and binding and loosing in order to make progress. We are fighting underlying spirits set against Christ. When we as Christians don’t walk around with confidence in who the father God says we are, we allow the enemy to dominate many areas of life. Confidence in who Jesus says we are in itself a powerful tool against the enemy. The devil is always trying to make us feel shame, guilt, anger, offense, hatred, self-pity, defensiveness, pride, hopelessness, burnout, depression, grief, sorrow, confusion (1 Peter 5:8). When we know and memorize the scriptures that let us know that God has already deposited everything we need inside of us (Colossians 2:9, Colossians 1:11), there will be no need to come into agreement with anything the devil suggests. 

So, stand up and walk with purpose because you know that the God of all things has chosen you for a specific purpose (Ephesians 2:10). Know that you are more than a conqueror (Romans 8:37), so you can expect to overcome every evil thing and have something to show for it. He saw to it to make sure you had a special assignment. You have worth. You are part of a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, and a peculiar people (1 Peter 2:9). Never forget that God so loved His creation that He sent His only begotten Son to die for us and restore his relationship with us John 3:16, Romans 6:11). Live your life fully knowing how much you mean to Him.
